Hercules chemical plant Originally built as the Missouri Ordnance Works in 1941, this plant produced chemicals for explosives used in WWII ordinance. Over the past few years the plant has slowly ceased most of its operations, in 2011 Ashland sold the plant to Monument Chemicals who state they will continue producing synthetic lubricants there.
