Missouri K-Line

19eb_bnsf_9353_SD70ACe_elsberry_mo_jun07_2007.jpg

The now-BNSF "K-line" was started in the 1870s by the then St. Louis, Keokuk & Northwestern Railroad. It runs from St. Louis, Mo to Burlington, Ia, and winds across the fertile fields and along the banks of the Mississippi flood plain. It is what I consider my 'home' rails, having grown up next to the tracks. I still enjoy railfanning here more than anywhere else.

Dameron, MO278 viewsLooking north from Dameron. There is nothing here now, but there used to be a station. Just to the right of the BNSF mainline there also used to be a small siding that served a large anhydrous ammonia tank. The siding was removed in the 1970s.

General Pershing Zephyr on the way to Kansas City3 viewsThe Silver Charger resembles its namesake as it rolls out of St. Louis on the way to Kansas City. The General Pershing Zephyr used the K-Line until it headed west. "Alton Burlington" was occasionally used on the nameplate as it used Alton RR trackage.Feb 19, 2018

Silver Charger rolling out of St. Louis3 viewsSilver Charger heads west out of St Louis on the K-line. Since the year is unknown, this could be for either the General Pershing Zephyr or the Mark Twain Zephyr, as the Silver Charger was used on both.Feb 19, 2018
